Donegal instructor goes on trial charged with alleged intercourse assault of teenager

A former secondary college instructor from Co Donegal has gone on trial, charged with sexually assaulting a younger teenage pupil within the mid-Eighties.

Jacintha McSherry O’Connor, from the Mullins in Donegal City, has pleaded not responsible to the offences.

RTE experiences that the 63-year-old is charged with two counts of indecently assaulting the boy between June and September 1985 when the boy was aged 13.

Prosecuting counsel Garrett McCormack mentioned when the complainant was in first yr, Ms McSherry O’Connor was a pupil instructor at his college in Dublin.

After the boy had completed first yr, the court docket heard Ms McSherry O’Connor and her good friend hung out with the boy and his household on vacation overseas.

Mr McCormack mentioned there was sexual contact between Ms McSherry O’Connor and the boy within the swimming pool and on a balcony.

He mentioned this was a instructor in her 20s and a primary yr secondary college pupil. Consent was not a difficulty within the case, he mentioned, as a result of the complainant was a toddler on the time.
